Scheduler & Automation

Have WindOp do things on a schedule — a morning summary, a weekly cleanup, a reminder — without you asking each time.

The app must be running

The scheduler runs inside the desktop app. Closing WindOp stops jobs; it does not install a background service or wake a sleeping PC. Enable Launch on System Startup in SettingsGeneral for always-on schedules.

Create a scheduled task

  1. Open the Scheduler

Go to SettingsScheduler and choose Add Scheduled Task.

  2. Write the schedule

Type plain English or a cron expression — the form previews upcoming run times.

  3. Say what to do

Enter the prompt for the AI (optionally choose a model), or make it a simple reminder with a custom notification.

Schedule formats

StyleExamples
Natural languageevery 15 minutes, daily at 9am, weekdays at 8:30, weekly on monday, monthly on the 1st at noon
Cron (5 fields)0 9 * * MON-FRI = minute, hour, day-of-month, month, weekday
Macros@hourly @daily @weekly @monthly @yearly
  • Times use your computer's local time zone. Times skipped by daylight-saving changes are skipped.
  • “Daily” in natural language means 9am; cron @daily means midnight.
  • Each job keeps its last 50 run records (success, error, or skipped) with output and duration.

If the app was closed

Each job has a misfire policy: run_once (default) runs one catch-up after downtime; skip records a skip and resumes at the next occurrence.

Where the answer goes

  • New conversation per run creates a fresh chat each time.
  • Append adds to an existing conversation.
  • Optional notifications tell you when a run finishes; results link back to the chat.
  • Jobs can depend on other jobs; a dependent run stops if the latest dependency failed or was skipped.

Ask the agent to do it

You can create and manage schedules by chatting: “Every weekday at 8:30, summarize my open pull requests.” The agent uses its scheduler tools to set it up.

Webhooks & the heartbeat

  • Webhooks: local endpoints that trigger work from outside events; manage them with manage_webhooks.
  • Task notifications: a notification center collects finished tasks and approval requests.
