Skills

A skill is a saved, reusable playbook — instructions, pitfalls, and scripts for one kind of task. WindOp loads the ones that fit your request instead of stuffing everything into every chat.

How skills work

  1. You ask for something (“review this pull request”).
  2. WindOp lists available skills and loads the relevant one with its load_skill tool.
  3. The agent follows that skill's steps, so results are consistent every time.

Skills ship in categories. The bundled set covers areas like GitHub workflows (code review, issues, PRs), software development (debugging, TDD, writing plans, code inspection), research (arXiv, web research, YouTube transcripts), productivity (PDF, PowerPoint, Google Workspace, Notion), creative work, and Windows administration (PowerShell profile, services, WSL, winget).

Manage skills

Open SettingsSkills.

  • Search installed and available skills.
  • Install new ones and update existing ones from the list.
  • Add a source — paste a GitHub repo or raw skills URL to pull in a community collection.
  • Default skills are chosen during first-run setup and can be changed here at any time.

If you also use Hermes, you can link its skills folder (default ~/.hermes/skills, or a specific profile's folder) so WindOp can use the same workflows. This shares instructions only — nothing runs until you ask.

Only install skills you trust

A skill is instructions the agent follows, and it can include scripts. Treat third-party skill sources like any code you download.
