Discord Bot

Message WindOp from Discord and let it work on your PC — with access limited to people you explicitly trust.

This gives remote access to your desktop tools

Anyone allowed to use the bot can ask WindOp to use tools on your computer. Only add people you trust, and keep Allow everyone off.

Set it up

  1. Create a Discord application

In the Discord Developer Portal create an application, add a bot, and copy the bot token and the Application ID.

  2. Connect it in WindOp

Open SettingsDiscord, turn on Enable Discord integration, and paste the bot token and Application ID.

  3. Choose who can use it

Add each person's Discord user ID to Allowed user IDs. An empty list denies everyone — that is intentional.

  4. Choose where it replies

Optionally set a Server ID and a free-response channel where the bot answers without being mentioned. Elsewhere it needs an @mention (you can turn that requirement off). Direct messages can be allowed or blocked.

  5. Invite and start

Use Copy invite link to add the bot to your server, then start it. Turn on Start with WindOp to launch it automatically.

Finding IDs

In Discord, enable Developer Mode (User Settings → Advanced), then right-click a user, server, or channel and choose Copy ID. IDs are 17–20 digits with no spaces.

How conversations work

  • Each user, channel, and thread gets its own conversation, so contexts do not mix.
  • Active thread conversations continue without another mention.
  • Recent bot logs are shown in the Discord settings for debugging.

Common errors

“Enter a Discord bot token before starting the bot”

Paste the token from the Developer Portal's Bot page (not the client secret).

“Add at least one allowed user ID”

Add your own user ID, or explicitly enable Allow everyone (not recommended).

Bot is online but does not answer

Check that you are on the allowed list, that you @mention it (unless in the free-response channel), and that the bot has permission to read and send messages in that channel.
